Feature Project

In late May 2012, Trinity Woodworking took it upon themselves to research, study and draw full size detail drawings for the reconstruction of the main greenhouse at Killruddery House & Gardens in Bray, Co. Wicklow.

The original greenhouse is turn of the 20th century and was constructed by Mackenzie & Moncur between 1900 and 1911 (Mackenzie & Moncur are known as the 'Rolls Royce' builders of greenhouses).

They took on this exercise on their own accord to gain an understanding and make a record of the original greenhouse. This was extremely challenging because the main structure was dismantled and there were no detailed records of how to approach a reconstruction. Approximately 75% of the parts were saved and stored. The result

of this exercise satisfied Trinity Woodworking as they had gained a great understanding of the Mackenzie & Moncur greenhouse.

Trinity Woodworking was awarded the job against top construction companies to prefabricate the greenhouse in their workshop to its original glory. They had the pleasure of working with historic gardens consultant, Finola Reid who project managed this Kilruddery glasshouse restoration project.

This greenhouse is another wonderful restoration project by Trinity Woodworking. They had full responsibility for all aspects of the milling of woodwork, mouldings, wedged mortise & tenon joints, layout of job, intricate joints and cut outs of woodwork.
